The story
Built over a cigar. Made for more.
The Black Leaf Society started with a simple discovery: the right smoke can open a conversation, and a good conversation can change the direction of a life.
A non-traditional beginning
No permanent walls. More room to move. A society can travel wherever its people bring the energy.
Spencer and Jah met at a mutual friend’s wedding, each convinced he was the only cigar enthusiast in the room. They brought cigars for everyone, then stepped away for a celebratory smoke. That first conversation became a year of ideas about what cigar culture could be.
The original plan was a traditional lounge. The larger idea was better: build something agile, dynamic, and unmistakably their own — a community where a great smoke sits alongside music, friendship, and a responsibility to the places that make gathering possible.
That is The Black Leaf Society. Not a room you rent. A point of view you can walk into.

What we protect
The pause
Space to slow down, pay attention, and enjoy the present without apologizing for it.
The invitation
A culture open to good energy, honest ambition, and people who know how to make room.
The return
Gatherings that give something back — to our people, our neighborhoods, and the wider society.
The feeling
The calm after the first draw. The laugh that lasts. The next plan made before the night ends.
